The public lecture “Design for Hospitality” will take place on Thursday, October 15 at 7:00 PM, presented by the South Shore Network of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Speakers Dawn MacLachlan and Kara MacGregor, Principals and Co-owners of MAC Interior Design Inc., will explore the differing processes and challenges of designing for hospitality. Their talk contrasts hotel design for remote investor groups with restaurant design for hands-on, solo entrepreneurs, illustrating how their core design process adapts to different client relationships, business goals, and functional needs.

Both speakers bring decades of award-winning expertise from their 45-year-old multi-sectoral practice. Dawn MacLachlan has practiced in Halifax for over 40 years, specializing in corporate space-planning and prominent local restaurant designs like The Bicycle Thief and Matadora. Kara MacGregor has over 30 years of experience focusing on international hotel design, recognized with major industry honors like the IHG Renovation of the Year Award for her ability to blend local culture with long-term financial success.
