A Chorister’s Christmas — Capella Regalis
Capella Regalis is a Canadian charity devoted to training young singers in the centuries-old choral tradition and presenting music of the highest excellence. Founded in Nova Scotia in 2010 by director Nick Halley, the organization has grown to include a Boys Choir, Girls Choir, and professional Men’s Choir based in Halifax. In 2024, it expanded with the South Shore Program, offering weekly rehearsals in Lunenburg for children from surrounding communities. All children’s choirs are free and open to any child eager to learn music.
The choirs perform regularly at the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Halifax and tour widely across Nova Scotia and beyond, presenting a rich repertoire from Bach and Britten to Mozart and Rutter. Their recordings include Songs of the Sea (2025), A Ceremony of Carols (2023), and Love Came Down (2019), among others, alongside numerous online broadcasts. Through concerts, outreach, and education, Capella Regalis continues to revitalize the European church choir tradition in Canada while making high-level choral training accessible to all.
